4-Day Sahara Desert Tour via the Route of 1000 Kasbahs
About This Experience
Embark on an unforgettable 4-day journey from the vibrant city of Marrakech to the golden dunes of Merzouga. We will cross the majestic High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka pass, discovering traditional Berber villages nestled on the slopes.
We will visit the legendary Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, the setting for movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Explore the lush palm groves of the Dades Valley and the impressive Todra Gorges before reaching the Sahara Desert. There, you will experience the magic of a sunset camel ride and sleep under a starry sky in a luxury camp with traditional music.

Day by Day Itinerary
Marrakech – High Atlas – Ait Ben Haddou – Dades
Early departure from your Riad in Marrakech. We will cross the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n'Tichka pass (2,260m), enjoying spectacular panoramic views. We will make stops for photos in authentic Berber villages.
Arrival at the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Free lunch and guided visit. We will continue to Ouarzazate, known as the "Hollywood of Africa", and follow the Route of 1000 Kasbahs to reach the Dades Valley for dinner and overnight stay in a charming hotel.
Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga Desert
After breakfast, we will head to the impressive Todra Gorges, a canyon with 300-meter vertical walls popular with climbers. We will walk along the river and continue towards the desert.
We will pass through Erfoud, famous for its fossils, and arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon. There, camels will be waiting to take us across the Erg Chebbi dunes during sunset. Arrival at the luxury camp, Berber dinner, drum music around the fire, and overnight in a private tent.
Desert Exploration – Nomads – Khamlia
Today we dedicate the day to exploring the desert region in 4x4. We will visit nomad families to learn about their lifestyle and share a tea with them.
Then we will go to the village of Khamlia, inhabited by people originally from Sudan and Mali, to enjoy their spiritual Gnawa music. Lunch (Berber pizza). Free afternoon to relax at the hotel by the dunes or engage in optional activities like quad biking. Dinner and accommodation.
Merzouga – Draa Valley – Anti Atlas – Marrakech
We recommend waking up early to see the spectacular sunrise over the dunes. Breakfast and return towards Marrakech taking a different route.
We will pass through Rissani and Alnif, passing by the Draa Valley, the longest palm grove in Morocco. We will cross the Anti Atlas mountains and the Tizi n'Tinifift pass. Arrival in Marrakech in the afternoon and transfer to your accommodation. End of our services.

What should I pack?
We recommend comfortable and light clothing for the day, and something warm for the nights in the desert (even in summer). Comfortable walking shoes, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a reusable water bottle.
Are there vegetarian/vegan options?
Yes, Moroccan cuisine offers excellent vegetarian options (vegetable tagines, couscous). Please let us know of any special diets when booking.
What are the power plugs like?
In Morocco, type C and E plugs (European style) are used with a voltage of 220V.
- Passport: A passport valid for at least 6 months from the date of entry is mandatory.
- Tips: Not included in the price. It is customary to tip guides, drivers, and restaurant staff if the service has been good.
- Insurance: We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance covering medical expenses and cancellation.
- Accessibility: This tour involves walking on uneven terrain in kasbahs and the desert, so it is not suitable for wheelchairs.
