An 8 days unique trek in the High Atlas Mountains. Experience the raw beauty of Mount Toubkal covered in snow. This challenging adventure takes you through winter landscapes, frozen waterfalls, and snowy peaks, offering a completely different perspective of North Africa's highest mountain.
This trek requires good physical condition and familiarity with winter walking gear (crampons/ice axe, provided if needed). You will be guided by expert local mountaineers who know the terrain perfectly in all seasons.
Pick up from the airport in Marrakech and transfer to your riad. Free time to prepare your gear. (B)
Transfer to Imlil (1740m). Trek towards Tacheddirt (2300m) via Tizi ‘n Tamatert pass (2279m). Winter conditions may require slower pace. Night in a guesthouse. Approx. 4 hours walking. (B/L/D)
Ascent to Tizi Likemt (3555m). Spectacular snowy views. Descent to Azib Likemt (2200m). Night in gite/shelter. Approx. 5-6 hours. (B/L/D)
Trek over Tizi ‘n Ououraine (3120m). Descent to Amsouzert (1700m). Night in a local guesthouse. Approx. 6 hours. (B/L/D)
Hike to Ifni Lake (2300m). In winter the lake might be partially frozen. Camp or guesthouse nearby. Approx. 4 hours. (B/L/D)
Challenging ascent to Tizi n’Ouanoums (3664m). Use of crampons likely required. Descent to Neltner Refuge (3207m). Night in refuge. Approx. 6-7 hours. (B/L/D)
Pre-dawn start for the summit. Winter ascent requires care. Enjoy stunning views of the snowy Atlas. Descent back to Imlil. Transfer to Marrakech. Approx. 8-9 hours walking. Night in Riad. (B/L)
Transfer to Marrakech airport for departure.
It carries more risks than summer due to snow and ice. However, with our experienced guides and proper equipment, it is a safe and rewarding adventure.
Temperatures can drop well below freezing, especially at night and on the summit (down to -20°C with wind chill). Proper layered clothing is essential.
