A 5 days unique trek in the High Atlas Mountains. Explore the authentic beauty of the Ousertik and Imnane valleys, staying in traditional guesthouses, before taking on the challenge of ascending Jebel Toubkal. This route offers excellent acclimatization and a deep dive into Berber culture before reaching the roof of North Africa.
Transfer from Marrakech to Imi Ouglad village (1300m). Meet your mule and muleteer. Walk to Tizi l’bour (1500m), then Imsker village. Hike up to Ousertik valley. Overnight in a local village gite (2200m). Approx 5 to 6 hours walking. (L/D)
Hike up to the ski resort of Oukaimeden (2600m). Cross Tizi n’Addi pass (2900m) with splendid views. Descent to Tacheddirt (2300m), the highest village in the Atlas. Overnight in a gite. Approx 5-6 hours walking. (B/L/D)
Cross Tizi n’Tamatert pass (2279m) with views of Imlil valley. Descent to Imlil for lunch. Short walk to Aremd village (1900m) for overnight in a guesthouse. Approx 4-5 hours walking. (B/L/D)
Trek up the Mizane Valley, passing Sidi Chamharouch shrine. Steady climb to the snowline and Toubkal Refuge (3207m). Overnight in refuge or camping. Approx 5 hours walking. (B/L/D)
Early start (around 4am). Steep but non-technical ascent to Jebel Toubkal summit (4167m). Sunrise views. Descent to refuge for lunch, then down to Imlil. Transfer to Marrakech. Approx 9 hours walking. (B/L)
For Atlas Trekking you need to prepare as you would for walking in any mountain region. In addition to regular packing, here is a Check List:
